The templates, and the line through them
An appointment reminder is exempt from consent because it is transactional. That exemption dies the moment an offer is added to it. The natural thing to write here is “your coating inspection is due, and we’re running 20% off this month” — which is exactly the sentence that turns a lawful reminder into a commercial message that needed express opt in. So the template is typed, and the database refuses to let anything but a marketing template be promotional.
